| 96 | Family Purity | Dear Rabbi Abadie:
I am appalled to learn of what transpired at the AFSI event at EJC the other night. I assume you had no control over the event, and I further assume you share my disgust for what was said there. I very much hope you will publicly denounce the chillul hashem.
Sincerely,

| 95 | General Halakha | At an event sponsored by Americans For a Safe Israel at the Safra Synagogue on the Upper East Side, settlement activist Nadia Matar said:
"We must kill all the terrorist leaders, starting with Mahmoud Abbas and all others. Nobody had any moral qualms at destroying the Nazi regime. We have to abolish the Oslo Agreements, there's no difference between the PA, the Islamic Jihad, the Hamas, whatever names you have, they're all terrorists and we cannot have peace with them."
Where does one begin? First, Matar is inciting violence against moderate Palestinian leadership inside a synagogue. Second, she's actively undermining a two-state solution by raising money to support Israeli settlements in the West Bank and endangering Israel's future as a Jewish, democratic homeland.
It's scary to think of anyone endorsing this -- do you? and
will you speak out against it?

| 93 | Family Purity | Dear Rabbi,
I will be travelling to NY and will be staying at the Grand Hyaat on 109East on 42st. I wanted to know if you have a daily minyan for shajarit minja and arvit (and schedules) and if not if you could recommend me one near the Hotel.
Thanks,

| 64 | Tefilla/Prayers | Dear Rabbi Elie -- I visited the Temple on Shabbat, and first I found your voice and kavana inspiring. But I was greatly disturbed by the amount of casual talk during the reading of the Torah, and even worse that there was business talk reading the Torah. Honestly, there were wonderful people there, but to have casual talk while the Torah is being read in an _any_ Temple on Shabbat, especially about business, is a crime. May HaShem bless you, and your congregation to have greater respect for the words of HaShem, and ultimately help the ushering in of Mashiach. Yasher Koyach. | Dear Visitor,

| 2 | General Halakha | Upon discussing the upcoming holiday of Simchat Torah, we were wondering why we don't end and begin the reading of the Torah at Shavuot, which celebrates the receiving of the Torah? Why was Simchat Torah not set for the same time or day after Shavuot, and why it is instead put awkwardly right after Sukkot and Shmini Atzeret? | Your question also bothered th... | 8/28/2006 |

| 5 | General Halakha | I recently attended a family reunion. My parents were there, as well as my brothers with their wives and kids. My brothers are very bitter toward my parents, and have also distanced themselves from me. I think my brothers are jealous of me because I am the only daughter, and I got more attention growing up.
I really want to be close with my family. I have no hard feelings and want to get along.
What can I do to have a better relationship with my brothers? The current situation is very painful for me.
